Godzilla Raids Again

Well it has been a while since I've updated this. I appreciate all the readers thus far and have finally given in to the pressure of writing the sequel. Though I have been trying to work on other projects, Godzilla keeps getting in the way, so I figure now is the time to just get it done.
I will say though, I am disappointed in the lack of comments here. I really wish more people would leave them. Good or bad, I really need the feedback, so please, If you like what you read , tell me. If you don't like it, tell me. tell me what works and what doesn't, this will not only strengthen me as a writer, but give you the fans a better story. And of course you can be anonymous. And if you haven't read the first story yet. It should still be up under the archives. Just click the links on the right.
And now without further ado, here are the first two scenes of the sequel.

GODZILLA RAIDS AGAIN

EXT CANYON WHERE GODZILLA WAS BURIED —

We pan over the top of the canyon to the rubble mound. We follow it down to the canyon floor where there is a small outpost of trailers parked. People are  going back and forth between trailers, some crawling on the rock pile with various equipment.

 INT TRAILER —

We see 2 men sitting by a bank of monitors and equipment. They are staring at a screen when the trailer rocks violently.

MAN 1 (SHOUTING)
Geiger readings are off the charts!

MAN 2
I think our friend is waking up! Get Hammond on the line!

The trailer rocks again. The commotion can be heard from outside, the sound of rocks falling and people screaming in panic. The trailer door swings open and a young woman peers inside. The two men stare at her.

WOMAN
Evacuation now!

The men get up and head for the exit.

EXT CANYON FLOOR —

They exit the trailer as it rocks again, one of the men loses his balance and falls to the ground, the other hangs on to the railing but flails about. The woman is running to the next trailer, dust and rocks raining down around her. People are running everywhere in panic.

There is a muffled roar. The two men look up and see the rubble pile burst open. Debris and large boulders tumble down and crush the camp around them. They try to run but the shaking of the ground keeps them knocked down. A large boulder is rolling towards them. The ear piercing sound of Godzilla's roar is heard, their attention now diverted up, they see Godzilla emerge from the pile of rocks. The boulder slams into them and the screen goes black.

GODZILLA RAIDS AGAIN APPEARS ON SCREEN

Through the opening credits. We break into a montage of Godzilla moving through the canyon, out into the countryside, through Barstow, and into Edwards AFB. scenes of the military fighting hopelessly, Godzilla blasting jets and helicopters out of the air with his radioactive breath. He presses on through many small towns and cities, we see people trying to evacuate, running in panic. Tanks and missile launchers wait outside a town. Godzilla approaches, they fire, he fire back, wiping out the division. More buildings crumble as he makes his way towards the ocean.

 INT HELICOPTER —

We are inside a military chopper. Major Adams is piloting with Jack Hammond beside him. In the back are Dr. Hammond, Serizawa, and Miki Ogata.

DR. HAMMOND
(shouting up front)
 Major! Where is he now?

MAJOR ADAMS
He's ten miles from the coastline as of last report.

DR. HAMMOND
(looks to Serizawa)
 he's moving very quickly.
(shouts up)
 How long till we arrive!?

MAJOR ADAMS
About 15 minutes!

DR. HAMMOND
(to himself)
 I hope we make it.

 EXT SKY DAY —

The helicopter banks and flies towards plumes of smoke rising in the sky. The vast Pacific ocean ahead in the background.

 EXT COASTAL TOWN DAY —

Godzilla crashes through a small boardwalk. Ahead lies the ocean. He stares at it a moment and lets out a deep guttural growl. He then bolts across the beach and wades into the water. Behind him we see the chopper landing. The doors open and the doctors exit. They stare in wonder at Godzilla who is now waist deep in the water.

Godzilla tilts his head back. He lets out a loud roar, then dives into the water. The ocean erupts in froth and giant waves make their way to the beachfront. His tail juts out of the water briefly, it wavers slightly and disappears beneath the surface.

MIKI
He's gone.

DR. HAMMOND
Yes. We are too late.

JACK
All the better. I really wasn't in any hurry to get near that thing again.

MAJOR ADAMS
Yeah. Me either.
(turns to Hammond)
Where do you think he's going now doc?

DR. HAMMOND
I'm not sure Major. But I do believe the ocean was his primary destination. Though he doesn't appear to be an aquatic animal, there is still so much we do not know.

JACK
Well its gonna be a lot harder to figure out, now that he's out there.

MAJOR ADAMS
I'd rather have him out there.

MIKI
Yes. Me too.
(she looks back to the destruction behind her, left in Godzilla's path)
So much destruction. I think we all are a lot safer with him in the ocean.

SERIZAWA
Do you think he will return William?

DR. HAMMOND
Ah yes. We have not seen the last of Godzilla.

FADE

TITLE ON SCREEN: GULF OF MEXICO —

INT UNDERWATER NIGHT

We see two divers in the water. Flashlights searching until they shine on a pile of barrels. They proceed to the barrels and begin tying ropes around them. As they secure each rope, they give a tug and the barrels are pulled to the surface. On the sides of the barrel we can see faded printing of the radioactive waste symbols.

The divers secure the last of the barrels, it is wedged between some rocks. It is not breaking loose so they help pulling and pushing. Focus in on the side of the barrel as it breaks free, the rock punctures it slightly.

The divers ascend to the surface, the barrel rising behind them. A small trail of greenish liquid is trickling out of the barrel into the sea.

The divers break the surface next to a large fishing boat. They are bobbing in the water that is thick with sludge on the surface. They make their way to the ladder beside the boat. Removing their fins and masks, they toss them up to a crewman waiting up top. They climb the ladder onto the deck, the crewman hands them towels and they wipe the dark gooey substance off their faces.

DIVER 1
Ugghh. This stuff is awful.

DIVER 2
Yeah. Cant get it off quick enough. Tastes like shit too.

DIVER 1
Your not supposed to swallow it.

DIVER 2
Kind of hard to avoid when your coming through three inches of oil slick.

They start removing their gear and look over as two crewman are winching up the last barrel. As they swing it over the rail to place it on the deck, one of the men notices the small trail leaking from the side.

CREWMAN
Shit! We got a leaker.

CRANE OPERATOR
(shouting)
Get a cover on it! Somebody get the absorbent and soak that crap up!

A few crewman in bio suits come over and start spreading a substance over the leak. Two more come with a heavy tarp and cover the barrel.

The ships captain exits the bridge and comes down to the deck. Faces the crewman and divers.

CAPTAIN
What the hell happened here?

DIVER 1
Sorry Cap'n. The last one was stuck on some rocks. Must have sprung a leak while pulling it out.

CAPTAIN
Damn it! Well get that cleaned up. I don't want any of my crew getting sick from that garbage.

He turns to his crew out on the decks.

CAPTAIN (CONT'D)
Alright men. Lets secure this load and get out of here. The cleanup crews should be here in a few hours. I want enough distance between us and them before they get here.

He turns to go back to the bridge. The second diver, now in his regular clothing walks beside him.

DIVER 2
Captain. I dont feel good about that leaky drum on board. Maybe we can toss it overboard.

CAPTAIN
Are you nuts? We were told to leave no trace of this dumpsite. We are being well paid to make sure the oil spill cleanup crews do not find any trace. And that includes taking that leaking wastepile with us.

DIVER 2
Aye captain.

The two enter the bridge. Behind them the crew is cleaning up and covering up their illegal cargo.
